BONUS STEP: Test for hard water. Hard water will negatively affect the function any soap, no matter the brand or recipe and can also cause dry skin and brittle hair. It keeps soap from lathering properly and inhibits the soaps ingredients from working. With our soaps, we add additional castor oil, shea butter and fine ground oats to produce a moisturizing and conditioning effect that lasts after the shower. But when used with hard water, these ingredients are easily stripped from the skin and aren't able to do their work.
